A Not so Subtle distortion

A Spanish-language ad from Obama calls McCain a friend of Rush Limbaugh and says Limbaugh called Mexicans "stupid." A McCain ad in Spanish misrepresents Obama's role on immigration legislation.

This is headline, notice that they go out of the way in headline to state McCain "misrepresents" Obama. Whereas the headline would leave you still questioning if Limbaugh, a friend of McCain, did call Mexicans stupid.

If the headline was non-biased it would read as below.

A Spanish-language ad from Obama ERRONEOUSLY calls McCain a friend of Rush Limbaugh and distorts that Limbaugh called Mexicans "stupid." A McCain ad in Spanish misrepresents Obama's role on immigration legislation.

The actual discourse shows that the Obama ad was a a flagrant distortion, actually a LIE because it ios common knowledge McCain and Limbaugh are far from friends and Limbaugh probably didn't really say that.

Does this happen intentionally. No matter. A truly competent, neutral editor would recognize this and assert an even hand.

This is either an instance of personal preference dominating the editing process, or an example of lack of skill in editing, meaning a low comprehension of what you read.

In my education in logic and presentation, these examples of unfairness were taught to me , and I assume to these editors. What you are taught to maintain fairness can be twisted to manipulate your reader, if that is your bent.
